THE LAKE DRIVE PROGRAMS
Mission Statement
The mission of the Lake Drive Program is to create a community of self-empowered learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust that will allow each individual student to reach their individual academic, communicative, social and personal potential.
“Individual Child, Individual Potential”
Vision
The Lake Drive Program has a distinguished history of excellence. From its origins over thirty-eight years ago, it has consistently been in the forefront of innovative programming in deaf education. As we move into the twenty-first century, we continue to meet the changing and varied needs of children with hearing loss. We will meet these needs with the same commitment to quality that has always been exhibited. The Lake Drive Program continues to build upon its foundation of quality and strengths, as we expand our knowledge and skills to address the current trends in deaf education, including total communication and auditory/ oral classroom options, auditory/verbal intervention, as well as mainstreaming opportunities across all academic levels. The program is dedicated to the development of listening, speech, language, literacy and communication. All Lake Drive classrooms are equipped with Smartboard and computer technology and many of our high school students also utilize iPod and iPad technology. Lake Drive’s state of the art audiological diagnostic testing center has the capacity to program cochlear implants. A team of support personnel and credentialed related service providers, including educational audiologists, speech/language pathologists, auditory/verbal therapists, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, counselors, and sign language interpreters, complement our highly qualified professional staff.
